Because  HE can!

5 thousand followers; five loaves of bread; twelve basketfuls of pieces.

4 thousand followers; seven loaves of bread; seven basketfuls of pieces.

“Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?   Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?  Do you still not understand?” (Mark 8:17-21)

When we read these verses, we may think ‘how could Jesus' disciples forget all the miracles by Jesus? They were there with Him!’  However how many times we find ourselves in that same situation where we lack faith, we forget, we lack understanding or we doubt, just like His disciples?  

Let’s not be too busy searching for a huge and dramatic sign from the sky to convince us to believe. Let’s be content and grateful of the small miracles in our every day lives which we take for granted and fail to realize that nothing happens based on our ‘own’ power.  Everything good comes from the Lord above.  If we continue to expect big and dramatic signs in order to believe, then we’re challenging God presuming to know more than He does (human pride, arrogance, denial, etc.).  Jesus condemned the generation seeking a sign.   He said ‘No sign shall be given to this generation’
